I’ve been working as a professional photographer for more than five years now and I still remember the moment the transition from graphic designer to photographer began in earnest. I had just returned from a two month solo trip in Europe, then a one month solo trip in Japan, and friend and wine-lover James Hopkins, operator of The Fruitful Pursuit, said “dude, I love your photos. Want to come shoot wine tours?”
I said yes, started shooting and seemed to find a new profession. Shortly after I held an exhibition called ‘Shot Story’ at Tooth and Nail Gallery, which featured the image above captured in Barcelona along the boulevard. It also helped me earn the 2016 SAPPA Emerging Photographer of the Year award.
Recently I presented five favourite images in five minutes with Alfonso Calero of www.alfonso.com.au and for who I lead the Adelaide Photography Courses.
(The walking tours are great and we teach people to better use mobiles phones for photography, in addition to DSLR and mirrorless cameras both day and night and on private tours).
